How to kill an ibis

Argument

Fabio is handsome, sophisticated, single and homosexual. He lives in Madrid and has a great social life. He is fond of wine tasting and is a defender of animals. He is convinced of his leftist ideology. He has a good job in a company, but the crisis looms over Spain and many offices close in Madrid. He is forced to move from Madrid to Écija, if he wants to keep his salary. From the big city to a town in Andalusia, where you do not know anyone. Together with his greyhound “Plato”, he rents a house to live. Hives appear all over his body. Start investigating. In the
end he discovers everything, they are bites of parasites of birds, mites, which cause Lyme disease. The owner of the house is engaged in the trafficking of exotic birds. He has put sick birds in the house that he rented. He wants to give it his due. He begins his ordeal: a judicial battle to obtain “justice” and a struggle to recover health.

Commentary

The story focuses on the judicial battle that the protagonist undertakes. It is a criticism of the judicial system. A critique of the “deep Andalusia” of the Ecijas and Marinaledas. A vision of the life of a homosexual before, the incomprehension of his own neighbors and the prejudices he has to face for being gay. A call for attention on compliance with the Animal Protection Law. The dialogues with Platon are great.
